Akasya Shopping Mall

Istanbul's largest transformed factory-site mixed-use development at 143,598 m² — owned by SAF Real Estate. The development combines housing (192,000 m², 1,580 units), retail (85,000 m² leasable), green recreation (58,000 m² facilities, 7,500 m² lakes, 26,000 m² central park), and edutainment (Kidzania, 8,000 m²). Bomanite Stamped Concrete was installed across 10,000 m² of driveway and rain gutters surrounding the mall — exceeding the originally contracted 8,650 m². The slate-textured finish forms the focal point of both mirrored entrance driveways, welcoming visitors with a naturally-looking, enduring surface that the client initially considered using natural stone for. The project presented significant logistical challenges: a compressed timeline, harsh winter conditions including rain and strong winds (the primary enemy of freshly laid stamped concrete), and constant coordination with parallel subcontractors working across the still-active site. Delivery of ready-mix concrete was frequently delayed by hours due to the location, requiring full night-shift operations. Despite this, the installation was completed to the investor's full satisfaction — who later expressed regret at not specifying Bomanite for the mall's entrance halls as well.
